"In the bible it says, what goes around, comes around.
Hommo shot me, three weeks later he got shot down.
Now it's clear that I'm here, for a real reason,
'Cause he got hit like I got hit, but he ain't fucking breathin'"
The official remix to Roman's and Slim Shady collaboration drop this night. This time Nicki brought her boss along. Somebody else noticed that Lil Wayne has started to refer to himself a lot more as LilTunechi since his release? Oh, and yeah LilTunechi destroys the beat as did Eminem.
These are not new, but so good I have to post them anyway. 2011 is gonna be the year of Wiz Khalifa, mark my words. He's currently blowing up everywhere with this song. And he is supposedly making a movie together with Snoop. Until he drops the next hit you will have to make do with these two tracks.
"Haters sayin' I changed, I say look at my chain, maaaaaanee"
After releasing one of 2010's best albums and having the best comeback after Slim Shady, the PLK is back with new music. This one features Jim Jones and is not bad. Skeleton beat. Not bad at all. Presumably from his upcoming mixtape.
Birdman och Birdman J.R a.k.a LilTunechi a.k.a Weezy F a.k.a Lil Wayne är tillbaka tillsammans i en video med remixen till Birdmans Fire Flame från hans kommande album. Som väntat är remixen > orginalet.
#1 Start It Up - Lloyd Banks ft. Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Leslie & Fabolous
So, the most played song of 2010 had alot of more plays than the number two spot. This song has literally been listened to for hours. Well, with the second best album of the year after Eminem's Recovery Lloyd Banks first album in four years The Hunger For More 2 lived up to all the hype and this song cemented the modern PLK. Swizz's hypnotic beat and three verses that all stand on their own put this song on repeat for a loooong time. Banks switches up the tempo in the middle of his verse which gives it life. You cannot stand still to this beat. As Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday there isn't a weak song on HFM2.
I mean how can you not like a song that starts with "What you gon' do? It's G.O.O.D Music and G-Unit."
When Wiz Khalifas debut album drop in 2011 I'm pretty sure a star is gonna be born. Doing his thing independent with the backing of Atlantic Records, turning down touring with Drake to focus on his on tour he finally got his commercial break through with this Taylar Gang anthem! Best hook this year? When that bass starts...."You what it is!" Addictive song.
"Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow"
Most beautiful R&B song of 2010! The follow up to the song Nikki from his debut album Love/Hate. As inspired by Prince as an artist can ever be (Darling Nikki anyone?). The-Dream is the anyone I would ever give the epithet the modern Prince, and that is as good a grade any artist can get from me. The-Dream's third album Love King is as solid as his other ones and you can listen to it from front to back. The best and most creative R&B artist right now!
Ok, so a album that gets 5 mics in The Source (although a XXL is probably worth more nowadays) should at least have one hit song and not just be a good rap record right? Well fortunately Bun delivers the hit with a little help from T-Pain. A T-Pain hook hasn't sounded this good for a looong time. If this doesn't motivate you, nothing will!
Man, I first heard this track when it leaked as only a reference track for Jamie Foxx and it had Drake singing the whole thing. It was a hit then and became a hit in Jamie's version as well. From Jamie's album Best Night Of My Life. Although maybe it would've have been better with just Jamie or just Drake doing their thing. Haha, Drake should have kept this one to himself when "Show Me A Good Time" didn't become the cross-over hit Young Money wanted for him to be able to do Lil Wayne numbers with his debut. Drake second appearence on the list though!
Nelly came back like cooked crack in 2010. New album, new hits. This is how good pop/rap/hiphop gets with the modern day LL Cool J. Even though Nelly was dissapointed with his album sales no one can deny this hit song. Also, the video is great and not your typical hiphop video. Fact, rappers with decent voices who can kind of sing their choruses like Nelly and 50 Cent make great songs.
This is feel good music at its best. When you hear that signature Nelly "uh, uh, uh".
Best punchline:
"Tryin to get my Usher on, but I can't let it burn!"
GMODT has compiled the best/most played songs* of 2010 by adding together the number of plays a song has on our iTunes + iPod. This is of course a rough measure of how good a song is. Some times you play a song to its death and then leave it like yesterdays trash, while other go with you through out the year. Of course we will also give you all the best song of 2010 on the best measure there is; The way you felt when you first heard it. How high and excuberant did that particular song get you when you first pressed play?!
*Of course, only songs released during 2010 are elegible for this list.
Here we go! Chea!
#10 Light Up - Drake ft. Jay-Z
Drake's first appearence on the list. The best song from Drake's amazing debut Thank Me Later. We thank him now. Oh, and as usual when Jay-Z is the guest. Jay-Z > Drake.
