#5 Most Played Songs of 2011

#5 The-Dream - Motivation (Remix)

Ha!

#6: The-Dream - Body Work/Fuck My Brains Out

Who releases a song that's 9:31 minutes long as the first single in today's radio/music environment? Well, Prince and...The-Dream. I've said it before; in today's music industry The-Dream is the new Prince and one listen to his music tells you where he gets his inspiration from. "Body Work..."

#7 Most Played Songs of 2011

#7: The-Dream - Long Gone

That The-Dream is one of the most creative and unique artists today is nothing new. Nobody in modern R&B has a so unique sound of his own. In 2011 The-Dream released an album, 1977, under his real name Terius Nash. The album was available for free via his homepage, but that didn't stop from being one of the best albums this year. The album is just great from beginning to end with out no fill out tracks. "Long Gone" is the standout track with an infectious bass line with a spanish flamenco feel to it. The expectations for his next album "Love IV: Diary of A Mad Man" just hit the ceiling. Just listen to the song about his late mother "1977 (Miss You Still)" and you'll understand why.

"Another day with you is just another fuckin day."

Bonus: Download the album "1977" here.

#8 Most Played Songs of 2011

#8: Drake - Headlines

Drake had a good year. Again. Thanks to his producer Noah "40" Shebib, who took care of 90 % percent of Take Care, Headlines was the perfect first single. Listened to this a lot when it came out, but eventually I do not think Take Care lived up to the hype and is not even close to being as good as Thank Me Later. Nonetheless, Drake makes hits.

On a side note Drake performs in Stockholm 15/4.

"And they say that I'm back
I'd agree with that
I just take my time with all this shit I still believe in that
I had someone tell me I fell off
Ooh I needed that"

Bonus: iTunes bonus tracks.

Drake - The Motto ft. Lil' Wayne
Drake - Hate Sleeping Alone

#9 Most Played Songs of 2011

#9: Young Jeezy - F.A.M.E (Fake Mother Fuckers Envy) ft. T.I.

The Snowman had a rough road up to the release of Thug Motivation 103: Hustlerz Ambition (21/12 this year), but in the end sales came in good. The album was first announced back 2008 and an avalanche of singles have been released (the best perhaps being the first Lose My Mind ft. Plies) without getting the buzz for the album going (All White Everything, Jizzle and Ballin' was just bad) and with more and more voices saying the Jeezy had lost it. Mixtape after mixtape after mixtape after mixtape after mixtape and nothing happened. Finally (!) Shake Life appeared and not long after Jeezy returned with the above mentioned; F.A.M.E with T.I. and all was forgiven. Classic Jeezy produced by some of the best in the industry: J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League.

"Can’t slow down, too much evil in my rear view
Sometimes you wanna scream to God, but he can’t hear you
And even if you did, this’ll probably be disaster
F-ck you ‘plainin’ ’bout? It ain’t like you got cancer"

Bonus: Young Jeezy - Shake Life

#10 Most Played Songs of 2011

#10: Lil' Wayne - How To Love

It's that time of year again! Yup. The most played songs of 2011, compiled from the iTunes, iPod, iPhone of yours truly. Let's Go!!

At # 10 we find LilTunechi a.k.a Weezy F a.k.a Birdman JR a.k.a Lil' Wayne with "How To Love" from this year's much anticipated and hyped fourth installment in Tha Carter series; "Tha Carter IV". Selling 964 000 copies in its first week in the US alone, this was the best selling hiphop album of the year, although I think everyone agreed it was not even close to "Tha Carter III" in quality. Nonetheless, it's a great album with a lot of great songs. After "6 Foot 7 Foot" failed to be the new "A Milli" and "John" didn't do the trick neither "How To Love" was released as the official single in the spring after Mack Maine said it was gonna be the new cross over a la "Lollipop". It wasn't really what everyone expected and I personally went through a like-hate-like-love phase with this song. It finally grew on everybody and became the pop/crossover hit Lil' Wayne surely needed. Listen for yourself.

Bonus: All six bonus tracks from different editions; Best Buy, Target etc.

Lil Wayne - Novacane
Lil Wayne - Mirror
Lil Wayne - Up Up And Away
Lil Wayne - I Like The View
Lil Wayne - I Got Some Money On Me
Lil Wayne - Two Shots

New Music: Tech N9ne - Worldwide Choppers ft. Ceza, D-Loc, Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes & Twisted Insane

Wooohhaaa!

"And then they ask “What in the world is you provin’?
What, when you already the best? And what the hell is he doin’?”

Timbaland Thursdays

"I Won't Board This Plane" from a while back reminds us why Timbaland is one of the greatest.

Börja nästa förfest med den här: Timbaland - I Won't Board This Plane

Swizz Beats's Monster Mondays

Just det. Han är gift med Alicia Keys också.

Concerts: Wiz Khalifa och Kanye West till Way Out West

Chea!

KanYe West. Ja, vad säger man? Räcker nog med "All Of The Lights" och leftovern (ja, den ansågs antagligen för dålig för att få vara med på MBDTF) "Eyes Closed". (länk kommer)

"I wonder if God asked Mike how to moonwalk?"

MISSA DOM INTE!

New Music: Están Locos - Gente De Zona

Que bola mi gente!

Most played reggaeton song on Cuba right now!

"Ustedes están mal, ustedes están locos"

We're baaaaaaaaack!

After some time a bit closer to the equator we are back in business.

Vad passar bättre än några klassiker på just temat att komma tillbaka. Some modern day hip-hop history 2000-ish. Listen and get schooled!

DMX - We're Back

Eminem - I'm Back

Busta Rhymes - As I Come Back (the video for this song is included only as an intro to "Break Ya Neck")

Some good old fashion "disturbing" lyrics from Mr. Mathers (it's from the third verse not included in the live performance above):

"I take seven (kids) from (Columbine), stand 'em all in line
Add an AK-47, a revolver, a nine
a Mack-11 and it oughta solve the problem of mine
and that's a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time.
Cause (I'mmmm) Shady, they call me as crazy
as the world was over this whole Y2K thing
And by the way, N'Sync, why do they sing?
Am I the only one who realizes they stink?
Should I dye my hair pink and care what y'all think?
Lip sync and buy a bigger size of earrings?
It's why I tend to block out when I hear things
Cause all these fans screamin is makin my ears ring (AHHHH!!!)
So I just, throw up a middle finger and let it linger
longer than the rumor that I was stickin it to Christina
Cause if I ever stuck it to any singer in showbiz
it'd be Jennifer Lopez, and Puffy you know this!
I'm sorry Puff, but I don't give a fuck if this chick was my own mother
I still fuck her with no rubber and cum inside her
and have a son and a new brother at the same time
and just say that it ain't mine, what's my name?"

New Music: Roman's Revenge 2.0 - Nicki Minaj ft. Lil Wayne

The official remix to Roman's and Slim Shady collaboration drop this night. This time Nicki brought her boss along. Somebody else noticed that Lil Wayne has started to refer to himself a lot more as LilTunechi since his release? Oh, and yeah LilTunechi destroys the beat as did Eminem.

"All I do is win, my name should be Victor"

Music: Huey Newton - Wiz Khalifa ft. Curren$y, Bad Guy - Wiz Khalifa

These are not new, but so good I have to post them anyway. 2011 is gonna be the year of Wiz Khalifa, mark my words. He's currently blowing up everywhere with this song. And he is supposedly making a movie together with Snoop. Until he drops the next hit you will have to make do with these two tracks.

"Haters sayin' I changed, I say look at my chain, maaaaaanee"

Have anyone heard Toto's "Africa" used this good?

New Music: Fly In The Wind - Lloyd Banks ft. Jim Jones

After releasing one of 2010's best albums and having the best comeback after Slim Shady, the PLK is back with new music. This one features Jim Jones and is not bad. Skeleton beat. Not bad at all. Presumably from his upcoming mixtape.

"Money strech out like a limo"

Music & Video: Fire Flame (Remix) - Birdman ft. Lil Wayne

Birdman och Birdman J.R a.k.a LilTunechi a.k.a Weezy F a.k.a Lil Wayne är tillbaka tillsammans i en video med remixen till Birdmans Fire Flame från hans kommande album. Som väntat är remixen > orginalet.

Punchline:

"If these n****s dogs, I'm animal cruelty"

#1 Most played songs of 2010

#1 Start It Up - Lloyd Banks ft. Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Leslie & Fabolous

So, the most played song of 2010 had alot of more plays than the number two spot. This song has literally been listened to for hours. Well, with the second best album of the year after Eminem's Recovery Lloyd Banks first album in four years The Hunger For More 2 lived up to all the hype and this song cemented the modern PLK. Swizz's hypnotic beat and three verses that all stand on their own put this song on repeat for a loooong time. Banks switches up the tempo in the middle of his verse which gives it life. You cannot stand still to this beat. As Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday there isn't a weak song on HFM2.

I mean how can you not like a song that starts with "What you gon' do? It's G.O.O.D Music and G-Unit."

Punchline:

"They say good things come to those who wait
so I’m gon be at least an hour late"

HFM2 is a classic like the first one.

#3 Most played songs of 2010

#3 Black And Yellow

When Wiz Khalifas debut album drop in 2011 I'm pretty sure a star is gonna be born. Doing his thing independent with the backing of Atlantic Records, turning down touring with Drake to focus on his on tour he finally got his commercial break through with this Taylar Gang anthem! Best hook this year? When that bass starts...."You what it is!" Addictive song.

"Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow"

Ladda ner: Black And Yellow - Wiz Khalifa

Bonus (G-Mix): Black And Yellow (G-Mix) - Wiz Khalifa ft. Snoop Dogg, Juicy J & T-Pain

#4 Most played songs of 2010

#4 Nikki Pt. 2 - The-Dream

Most beautiful R&B song of 2010! The follow up to the song Nikki from his debut album Love/Hate. As inspired by Prince as an artist can ever be (Darling Nikki anyone?). The-Dream is the anyone I would ever give the epithet the modern Prince, and that is as good a grade any artist can get from me. The-Dream's third album Love King is as solid as his other ones and you can listen to it from front to back. The best and most creative R&B artist right now!

"Nikki I miss you"

Ladda ner: Nikki Pt. 2 - The-Dream

Bonus: Darling Nikki - Prince

Bonus 2: Nikki - The-Dream

#7 Most played songs of 2010

#7 Trillionaire - Bun B ft. T-Pain

Ok, so a album that gets 5 mics in The Source (although a XXL is probably worth more nowadays) should at least have one hit song and not just be a good rap record right? Well fortunately Bun delivers the hit with a little help from T-Pain. A T-Pain hook hasn't sounded this good for a looong time. If this doesn't motivate you, nothing will!

Best punchline:
"They gon' leave you chopped up
like they was DJ Screwin' ya"

Ladda ner: Trillionaire - Bun B ft. T-Pain

#8 Most played songs of 2010

#8 Fall For Your Type - Jamie Foxx ft. Drake

Man, I first heard this track when it leaked as only a reference track for Jamie Foxx and it had Drake singing the whole thing. It was a hit then and became a hit in Jamie's version as well. From Jamie's album Best Night Of My Life. Although maybe it would've have been better with just Jamie or just Drake doing their thing. Haha, Drake should have kept this one to himself when "Show Me A Good Time" didn't become the cross-over hit Young Money wanted for him to be able to do Lil Wayne numbers with his debut. Drake second appearence on the list though!

"Can I, can I, save you from you?"

Ladda ner: Fall For Your Type - Jamie Foxx ft. Drake

Bonus (Drake version): Fall For Your Type (Same Mistakes) - Drake

#9 Most played songs of 2010

#9 Just A Dream - Nelly

Nelly came back like cooked crack in 2010. New album, new hits. This is how good pop/rap/hiphop gets with the modern day LL Cool J. Even though Nelly was dissapointed with his album sales no one can deny this hit song. Also, the video is great and not your typical hiphop video. Fact, rappers with decent voices who can kind of sing their choruses like Nelly and 50 Cent make great songs.

This is feel good music at its best. When you hear that signature Nelly "uh, uh, uh".

Best punchline:

"Tryin to get my Usher on, but I can't let it burn!"

Ladda ner: Just A Dream - Nelly

# 10 Most played songs of 2010

GMODT has compiled the best/most played songs* of 2010 by adding together the number of plays a song has on our iTunes + iPod. This is of course a rough measure of how good a song is. Some times you play a song to its death and then leave it like yesterdays trash, while other go with you through out the year. Of course we will also give you all the best song of 2010 on the best measure there is; The way you felt when you first heard it. How high and excuberant did that particular song get you when you first pressed play?!

*Of course, only songs released during 2010 are elegible for this list.

Here we go! Chea!

#10 Light Up - Drake ft. Jay-Z

Drake's first appearence on the list. The best song from Drake's amazing debut Thank Me Later. We thank him now. Oh, and as usual when Jay-Z is the guest. Jay-Z > Drake.

Man, when this beat starts, get motivated!

Jay-Z qoute:
"Man, I don't do too much bloggin'
I just run the town, I don't too much joggin'"

Ladda ner: Light Up - Drake ft. Jay-Z
